This site was inspired by Walking Turcot Yards (see the story I wrote about it The Gazette recently) and by my interest in the Falaise St. Jacques, an unusual piece of Montreal green space about which there is surprisingly little on the web.
Tens of thousands of Montrealers drive past the falaise every day and the city has declared it one of its “eco-territoires.”
This blog is about my research into its history and the various ideas about what to do with it.
For decades, people have been talking about turning it into a linear park – a foot and bike path in the spring, summer and fall, and a cross-country ski trail in the winter. I have an interest in bike paths.
I’m Andy Riga. I’m a reporter at The Gazette in Montreal. My other blog is Don’t Mind Me, Just Talking To Myself.
